Showing Your Home - Selling Your Home

Nothing prevents buyers from submitting an offer more than a messy and dirty home…or a home where maintenance has not been kept up.

The saying goes “How a home shows, is not how it is lived in.”

Declutter, countertops, clean the floors, baseboards windows, and make sure all toys and photos are put away.

Potential buyers don’t want to see the way you live in the home, buyers want to be able to picture how they themselves would live in the home.

Clean the vents and replace the furnace filter. If you are moving out of the home, hire someone to deep clean your property…if you can do it yourself.

Absolutely avoid using scented plug-ins, artificial fragrances or have candles burning in your home. Not only are scented plugs-in extremely toxic to pets and humans, they are irritants to many. Additionally, many people wonder what is trying to be hidden. Those actually deter buyers! Remove those at all costs. Instead, open windows or run an air purifier.

Work on curb appeal and exterior maintenance. A sign should not go in the yard until the grass is cut, trees trimmed and weeds pulled.

If you’re wanting to buy or sell in the Chicago suburbs, let’s talk!
